SCCM 2012R2 - How to Schedule Package Deployment?

Hi all,

I'm looking to run a package every Sunday between 01:00 and 03:00.

I can't expire the advert or it won't run the following week.

I set the deployment deadline however any machine that's powered off processes the advert on Monday morning when it's powered back on.

There is no historic maintenance window so no currently packaged software will install if I set one now.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks.

  • Having read the question through a couple of times, I cannot make any sense of it. Can you explicitly state what you want to achieve?
Have you considered waking the machine over the weekend to run the package? - EdT 9 years ago
    • Here are the conditions:

I want a program to run on every workstation on Sundays (between 1am and 3am only).

If I set the program to expire on Sunday at 3AM it subsequently wont run the following Sunday (since it's expired).
If I schedule a deadline then any machine that is powered off on Sunday will process the advert when next powered on (outwith the required timeframe of 'Sunday 1AM-3AM')
If I apply a maintenance window (to only allow the installation bewteen 1AM and 3AM) this will effect all software deployments.

  • How about a scheduled task??? - Badger 9 years ago
  • How about a new device collection just for this nocturnal deployment? It can have its own maintenance window schedule, and as only this Sunday package is advertised to it, the window only applies to that particular deployment.
    See https://allthingsconfigmgr.wordpress.com/2012/06/13/configmgr-101-maintenance-windows/

How about WoL? The nic doesn't have to be in the boot menu, it needs to be configured to receive the 'magic packet' or wake-up packet to power the machine up. There may be some routing implications of getting the packet to machine - but test it and see how you get on. - dunnpy 9 years ago
