Note
Packagers rejoice! Microsoft has recognized the need for an unattended silent installation of the Access Snapshot viewer that actually works. They have released an updated installation in the form of a hotfix that can be obtained from Microsoft Product Support Services (1-800-642-7676).

For more information see KB=885883.

One of the other posts in the Command Lines section of this KB article states the /Q1 option is not supported but the KB=885883 is a hotfix that WILL allow the snapshot viewer to install silently using the /Q1 switch. KB Article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885883. Download the file at http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=885883&kbln=en-us.

While the KB=885883 article says something about being for Access 2002 or French language only, testing in a XP SP2, XP SP3, Vista SP1, and Vista SP2 environment proved the hoftix version works with snapshots made with versions of Access from A97 through A2007.

1) Once you download the hotfix from MSFT extract using the password provided. It will extract snpvw.exe to a folder you specify.
2) Extract the files from snpvw.exe to a folder using the /C and /T switches.
Ex: snpvw.exe /C /T:"C:\Extracted"
3) Deploy all the extracted files (we used SCCM) and run the setup with the quiet (no exit) switch.
Ex: Setup.exe /Q1

Note
Take a capture of this package. Also, there is an stf file present with the source of the software that can be of great help in understanding the package.

This also requires some merge modules (do not remember the name).

As a summary, the following were the main procedures:

1. Take a capture.
2. Select the 'Feature' feature and clean the HKCR registry ive as it contains the entries made by auto DLL registration.
3. Add the required merge modules.
4. Remove all HKCU keys.

The above points were the most notable ones while creation of this package.
