Performing an Administrative Install

To perform an administrative install, formerly known as a netcopy, you must first upgrade the Windows Installer by navigating to CD 1 and double-clicking on either instmsia.exe (Microsoft Windows® 98 / Windows ME) or instmsiw.exe (Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 / Windows 2000 / Windows XP).

Identify the network share where you will install.
On the Start menu, click Run:
Non-Quiet Install: msiexec /a <path to msdn.msi (located in the root of CD 1)>

Quiet Install: msiexec /qb /a <path to msdn.msi (located in the root of CD 1)> TARGETDIR="<path to network share>"

Instruct users to run setup.exe from the network share location.

Command Line
There is the command line I used to do a very silent install of MSDN Library for Visual Studio .Net 2003:

/QN give you a very silent install
/QB give you a silent install with a progress bar

both will give you a complete installation of 1.9 Gb

to get the complete installation of 1.9 Gb you must put the switch ADDLOCAL=ALL

\\%SERVER%\%SHARE%\setup.exe ADDLOCAL=ALL /QN

Command Line
For Full Install Localy... All 1.9 Gigs of it.

\\%SERVER%\%SHARE%\msdn.msi SETUP_EXE=yes ADDLOCAL=ALL

ADDLOCAL is the key if you don't use that it will do a full install but when a new feature is needed it will try to install it from the source.
