Note
Before you start, ensure that previous versions of the product have been uninstalled. You must first create a response file, which will record the information you provide during the initial install. Please note that you can also use this file with any type of installation without respecifying information such as a serial number or OSAgent port number.

To create a response file:

1) Install either Admin/User on a desktop machine (choose Start > Run)
2) In the Run dialog box, click Browse.
3) In the Browse dialog box, locate and select the setup61.exe file in the BI-Suite\brkrqry folder, then click Open.
4) In the Run dialog box, append a space, then -r ie. E:\bi-suite\brkrqry\setup61.exe -r
5) Click OK, then follow the steps in the installation program.
6) The setup.iss file will be created in the default location (your Windows or WinNT folder).

NOTE: The response file will only be properly created if you run thru the initial install only displaying the default windows. If , for example, a warning dialog message pops up during the initial install, the response file will not be created properly. To confirm that the response file is created properly, open the file (setup.iss) with notepad and ensure that count=10 (any other number and the install will not work). The count line should be displayed approx. on the 8th line of the file.

Once the response file is created, follow these steps to install on each of the client machines:

1) Copy the contents of the CD to a shared folder.
2) Go to a client machine and map a network drive to the folder containing the setup executable.
3) Copy the setup.iss file to same directory as the executable
4) Select Start > Run.
5) In the Run dialog box, click Browse.
6) In the Browse dialog box, locate and select the setup61.exe file from the mapped network drive, then click Open.
7) In the Run dialog box, append a space, then -s ie. <Mapped Network Drive>:\setup61.exe <space> -s
8) Let the install run (normally takes same amount of time as normal install) and once complete, check the setup.log to ensure return code of 0.

Note

Note that BI Query registers the file extension .RPT with biquser.exe for association with old, previous-version "BI Query Report Specificiation" files. Not only is this association rather unnecessary, but it interferes with the association for the more popular and more standard Crystal Reports output files. If you've got users with both (and chances are fairly good), then I'd recommend leaving out BI Query's association so that Crystal Reports functions normally.
