Wise Package Studio

At my last company we used Wise Package Studio Enterprise. At my current company we don't have any Wise products so I want to introduce Wise here. I've read this about the Standard Edition.

Wise Package Studio Standard Edition Wise Package Studio Standard Edition is a basic, stand-alone packaging tool designed for individuals who prefer an ad hoc approach to packaging. It provides Windows Installer packaging and validation functionality, helping organizations quickly and reliably package and migrate applications to the .MSI standard using an ad hoc approach.

Does the Standard also include the Setup Capture feature for both .wse and .msi/mst ? And does it also include the Wise Script Editor? And if it does have the Script Editor is it the same version you'd find in the Enterprise edition? I did not find this info on the Symantic web site.

Thank you.

This is about as good as it gets. Ignore the fact that it's for v7 and not v8. Us Wise veterans know that the latest release is really v7 SP4.

I would caution you most strongly about moving your client to WPS. Search the forum for details.

Thanks for the info. You said: I would caution you most strongly about moving your client to WPS. Search the forum for details. Why? I searched this site but did not find anything that said "don't use WPS". Please explain.

Thank you.

It took some digging (worringly...) but try this search. Start at the 2nd from bottom entry.

I see.....thanks. I've not downloaded or used v8 yet. And I did ask a Symantec/Wise tech about 2 years ago if they were going to ever upgrade the Wise Script Editor (it's been the same old thing for a while now) and I asked if they would incorporate the Wise Script Editor with their SVS package tool. I was told that it was in the works and should be done soon.......and it's been 2 years and counting. Has Symantec given up on WPS that you've seen or read?

Thanks for your help.

I thought my various responses were pretty clear. Maybe not. So, for clarity: IMV Symantec isn't interested in Wise, period. I think it bought Altiris for its deployment technology, to facilitate their push into the corporate endpoint protection market.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
