Windows Internet Explorer 8

Hi,
I have installed ie8 via sms then uninstalled it via sms successfully. But when I tried to install it again, installation ended with error (exit code 1603).
What is causing that error? Any idea how to solve it?
Thanks Hans [:(]

Sunspots? Volcanic ash causing freak electrical storms?

How would anyone know?

IIRC, the command line for uninstalling IE8 is %windir%\ie8\spuninst\spuninst.exe and you end up with a log in the %Windir% folder. That log should indicate which part of the uninstall failed.

As you are facing problem while re-installing the application, on the same built, you can use any snapshot tool, take 1st snapshot, install-uninstall the application, and take a second snap. You will get to know what is getting deleted/modified, which can be causing the issue. This is just a 1 of the way you can troubleshoot.

I'm having a really bad day today, aren't I? Where did I get the idea from that uninstall was the problem? LOL.

Anyway, the install log is %windir%\ie8_main.log. THAT ought to tell you what's going on

I have tried everything what I found but without success. I have found out that after uninstallation there are two records in registry, so I deleted them but still not working via SMS. If I install it manually as administrator it works but not via SMS under system account.Still the same error 1603.

What does the install log tell you?
