Win SP2 install Tasks; Keyboard, Mouse, and Applications

I have been given the dubious task of deploying Win XP SP2 to our desktop.

One of the tasks we want the package to do is to disable the mouse and keyboard during the installation process. We are planning on having the deployments performed at night but in case users are around at the installation time we would like to be sure that they do not use the PC.

We also want to close all applications that are running. The easy way around this is to restart the PC and run the installation when it restarts. I myself don't really like this method but it is easy to setup.

We would call the shutdown command.

If anyone has a process that is working for them I would truly appreciate the help.

Thank-you so very much in advance

Scott

PS sorry for the cross post but this seems to me can be fixed in both areas.

If your using AD, why not deploy SP2 through a GPO and the next time the computers restart SP2 will install automatically?

Or use SUS/WSUS
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
