Will an msi repackaged on an English xp os install on a German XP OS

Hi All,

I was curious to know.... if I repackage an app on the regular english MS Xp-sp2 OS and when I install the same package on the German Xp-sp2 OS, will it install or fail i.e. will the windows pathnames be transfromed according to the local scheme with the installation?

I cannot test this as I do not have a non-English version of windows xp. I am curious about this cos the english version will have "C:\Program Files" whereas the german client will have "C:\Programme"

Many Thanks,

I cannot test this as I do not have a non-English version of windows xpOne would hope thatyou have a virtual environment (e.g. VMWare/Virtual PC/VirtualBox) for packaging so why not sinmply create a German installation in a VM/VPC/VBox? If you *don't* have a virtual environment...how do you do the job?!? :)

There should be no problem regarding standard directories as they will be picked up from the shellfolder call and resolve to the correct path.
As long as no hard-coding is used it should work.

I often capture for on English operating system even if the computer is using the Swedish operating system and have not yet had any problems with this.
