What does ERROR: Failed to open connection - NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT mean when trying to use USMT on K2000?

I keep getting this error, ERROR: Failed to open connection - NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT, when trying to run a user state scan and migrate user data.  Does anyone know what this means or where I can go to find information on this issue?  I uploaded USMT 5.0 fine, but I can't migrate a user state from any PC.

thanks,

The USER state migration tool needs access to user profiles. This is not possible from the system account, and certainly won't work if you have roaming profiles stored on a server rather than locally. Even using a local admin account will not work for roaming profiles.
