If we have to develop Linux packaging capabillity in our firm, then what are the things we should prepare for?

It kinda depends on the packaging format(s) you'll be looking to provide.

I'm by no means an expert on the matter but afaik 'Autotools' or the GNU Build System is the most general option, and there are distribution-dependent package formats like .rpm and .deb

After making this choice you'll have to dig through the documentation on the package formats, and learn how to generate the necessary (make)files, manage dependencies etc etc., based ofc on the sources that the applications developers would provide you (I assume)
