VMWare workstation

Hi,

Iam trying to install 64 bit OS in VMWare. I have installed VMWare. i need to install windows server 2003 standard x64 edition. while installing it showing error like

"Attmepting to load an x64 OS, however this cpu is noy compatible with x64 mode. Please install a 32-bit x86 OS."

Even of i use 64 bit OS also, it is showing the same error. Plz some one help me to solve this issue.

I'm struggling to work out what this has to do with Application Package Development but....whatever... :)

IIRC (check http://www.vmware.com for details), you need at least v5.5 for 64-bit support. I believe that the host O/S needs to be 64-bit, too. Don't quote me, though.

Firstly, you need to be sure your processor is capable of running a 64-bit OS (somewhere on the VMware 5.5 distribution media, I think there is a checker utility you can run if you are unsure of this).

Secondly, the previous reply is correct in that the host O/S should be 64-bit. A dual boot machine capable of booting into either 32-bit or 64-bit XP (ideally with the 64-bit O/S installed on a second hard drive) is one option you might want to consider for this kind of work.

Hi thanks for your answer.

I have checked with VMWare-guest 64check-6.0.0-45731.exe to check whether os is a 64 bit and whether we can test VMware there. It was showing positive results, and even it was showing same error message.

Madhu, I really think your question would best be addressed in VMWare's forums.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
