VLC 2.2.2 Disable Check for updates in the menu

Hello,

I apologize for my English.

I've been looking for a solution to my request but didn't find it.

I have an .msi of VLC 2.2.2 and I want to disable the option "Check for updates" in the Help menu so users cannot try to update the soft.

Is there any option, property, component, registry key I need to change so that can be possible?

Thanks for your answers.

Hi,
you can disable the setting int the config file (user based) but removing it is not possible withotu allot of effort...
i.e. remove the menu resource from the executable / resource dll...

I've done it a couple of times with other applications but can't remember having doen it for VLC...

Cheers

Thanks for your reply.

The config file allows me to disable update notification but not remove "check for update" in the help menu.
So you're telling me that I can't do it from config file or something else, but need to change source code?

  • I had a look the other night and could not find anything in the resources, so yes basically that would be the only option. Another option is to put the url in your company firewall rule / filter. - Pressanykey 7 years ago
