Version 6 Agent Issue

After I upgraded to version 6 I set it up to push out the new agent. What appears to have happened is a partial uninstall of the old agent. It no longer shows in "programs and features" but when  the new client tries to install it fails looking for the installation source. I have had to install Windows Install Cleanup on a test machine, run it and remove the Dell Kace Agent. The new agent then installs fine. Has anyone else come across this ? Is there an automated way of doing this as I don't really want to do this manually on every machine.

  • I tried to install the agent manually but it fails unless I run the Windows Cleanup Utility so obviously it is an issue with the removal of the older agent - KiwiJJ 9 years ago
  • I was upgrading the 5.5 agent on Windows 7, 2003, and 2008 machines using the Kace box to do the upgrade. I had the same problem when I tried to do it manually. Looks like it partially uninstalled the od version as when I ran it manually it popped up looking for an install source - KiwiJJ 9 years ago

1. From what old version were you trying to upgrade to 6.0 agent?
2. Which Windows OS?
3. What method you were using to upgrade the agent?

I had to manually resolve this by installing the Windows Cleanup Tool, running it and removing the old Kace Agent then install the version 6 agent
