I have a .reg file that needs to be merged with the target machines. Deployment tool is ITCM. I wrote a script using AutoIt for the same and it failed. The log says that it has been merged successfully but thats not the case.

Later i wrote a .bat file to perform the same task and that failed too.

So finally i tried to create an MSI using picturetaker and its not importing the .reg file. I get an error "Not a valid .reg file". The .reg file works when it is launched manually.

The .reg file contains REG_Binary values with hexadecimal content.

Apart from the above tools, I donot have any other packaging tools.

Any help is appreciated

If it is working fine when you double click on it manually then it should work through batch script as well..

Can you post you batch code here?..

Are these all on the same domain? You can push reg changes via GPO.

  • They're not on the same domain unfortunately. And here they dont use GPO :(
    • One other thought is to create a reg merge file and use PStool's psexec to push it to the machines. You can batch this on machines if you have a common admin account to log in with.

  • the value starts with "hex: " After the key is merged, it shows REG_Binary in the registry. And it does have hex content in it.
