Switch PDF to Acrobat Reader rather than using built in viewer

I would like to change the default for my deployment of Firefox 19 from the built in viewer to Acrobat Reader.  I found the option to disable the built in viewer with pdfjs.disabled but setting this to true does not cause firefox to use Acrobat Reader that it just downloads the pdf.

How can I set the action for conten-type Portable Document Format (PDF) from "Preview in Firefox" to Use "Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)"?

Does anyone else have a solution by modifying the mozilla.cfg file somehow?

Download actions: The mimeTypes.rdf file stores your preferences that tell Firefox what to do when it comes across a particular type of file. For example, these are the settings that tell Firefox to open a PDF file with Acrobat Reader when you click on it.

I have found that setting or unsetting this could take 2-3 restarts of FF.  You may need to toggle the plugin.
