Strange MSI/SMS issue.

Hello all, long time lurker first time poster...

I have this strange problem. I develop packages with MS VS 2005 and I'm just learning how to create packages that upgrade themselves when a new version comes out. The problem I'm having is that when I push out a package via SMS it will not uninstall the old version of the software. It in essence installs the new version along side the old version. However when I run the packages locally it uninstalls like a champ and installs the new version. I'm curious to see what you all have to say about what I'm doing wrong.

Sincerely,

Peter

it may have to do with the UI level. Is there a dialog that has to be complete to remove the old app?
If it is an MSI based install (everything windows should be these days) you should be able to put the upgrade code from the old MSI into the upgrade table of the new MSI. keep you upgrade code the same across app versions so you don't have to keep updating it.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
