Software Library - Install Option

Dear All,

We are experiencing the issue when trying to install a package from Software Library. Package is uploaded as a zipped file. Package Type selected is Install and have chosen the appropriate Install Command Line. Download option is working fine and so is the respective "Managed Install". The Server and Agent version are 5.3.45497 and 5.3.47173 respectively. It seems as if nothing happens on the agent when we start the install.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Was the zip created using compressed folders?

When you made it, did you zip it using Windows compressed folders, or another program (7-zip, etc)?

We are zipping it using Windows compressed folders.

Meanwhile we have tried using Winzip 9 as well but it did not work.

The general rule is to use an application like 7-zip to archive your installer packages. If you search these forums, you will find many references to this. It is worth double checking this, even though your MI is working.

If that fails to resolve this, it may be worth looking at the KDeploy log from the client failing the install.

Thanks Scott. Even the logs are not getting created. I have logged the issue with Dell Kace support and will show them the issue. I will let you know whatever we find out.

Did you ever resolve this issue?

Oh yes...! We investigated the issue with the Kace specialist and found out the install option will not work if "Failover To K1000:" is NOT checked under Replication share settings. It is because the install from Self Service portal happens from the appliance not from the Replication server. In case if you do not have any replication server in the environment it will work fine.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
