How can I force software installs and updates using the K1000?  I can't seem to find documentation about it.

  • Have you read the Administrator Guide, particularly the managed installs section? In your K1000 click Distribution, then the question mark in the upper right corner then the links for more information. Those will take you to the local copy of the administrator guide on your appliance.
  • Actually, I was searching for something more specific. Sorry, let me clarify and get specific: I am looking for possibly a knowledge base article or an ITNinja thread that might detail how to set up a managed install in Kace for IE10.
    • The first thing you should do is download the IE10 administration kit to build an installer. Have you done that? I have a managed install for IE 10 that I can post instructions for at some point.
  • Easiest way would probably be to use the scripting feature of KACE.

    If you use Managed Install you will need to create a new Software (since Internet Explorer 9+ does not show up in the Software section), call it Internet Explorer 10, make sure the version is correct and the same as the install file, create a custom inventory rule to check if it's installed and assign the exe to the newly created software. Then create a managed install from that software that you created, and override default installation so you can check the "don't prepend msiexec.exe".
