I work for a large Canadian financial institution and need some guidance. I am realizing that we need a system for documenting our software applications. For example:

Dependancies (Java, .NET, etc.)
Support Details
Command lines for silent install/uninstall
Configuration details
System Req's
Install location

I don't want to re-invent the wheel but I have been unable to find a "best-practice" guide or possible solutions, other than to use an off-the-shelf knowledge base system.

Just wondering if anyone else here has any insight or suggestions. Thanks very much.
