SMS 2003 Remote Control not displaying screen updates

Hi all

Customer site: SMS 2003 R2 site with Windows 2000 and XP clients (SP2 firewall disabled).

When remote controlling some Windows 2000 clients (customer says it also may occur on XP clients) the following occurs (ONLY when the user at the remote workstation is already logged in!):
- screen is shown with only the start menu and taskbar visible
- if you click on (for example) the start menu button you won't see the start menu popping up but the user can see it
- if the user (for example) opens an application or an explorer window (such as My Computer) the user can see that window but you (remote) can't... ... it seems no screen updates are done... but if you click on the 'key' button (in the toolbar in the top right corner of the Remote Control window) you get to see the CTRL-ALT-DEL screen (Windows Security window where you can log-off the user, open up task manager etc...) and if you click cancel in that window it will return to a refreshed screen (where you eventually will see an updated screen... for example with the My Computer explorer window visible). Also minimizing and restoring/maximizing the remote control window refreshes the screen.

The workaround I found: tell the user to log-off first, start the remote control session once the user is logged off, instruct the user to login again and everything works fine.

So the remote control only works correctly when starting it when no user is logged in on the remote system.

Any ideas..?? I can't imagine this is hardware / display driver related (remote control towards the same hardware in another remote site works fine)

PS: It's a single SMS site environment with several remote sites with at least 2Mbps connections.
