Smart Labels

We currently have several flavors of AutoCAD running, both full and LT. I created a smart label to view all these. the problem is shown in the attached screen capture. There are various version across the board. What I am attempting to do is gather them all into a one line digest, just showing how many current installs there are, regardless of version (for licensing reasons). In other words, I do not care that AutoCAD LT 2006 has 1 copy of version 16.2.77.0 and 19 copies of version 16.2.54.10. Nor do I care that there is AtuoCAD 2004, and 2006, and LT 2010, etc. I want to simply know that we have X number of AutoCAD installations period, regardless of version, Name, etc. Just a total. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Your best bet is to probably use Custom Inventory Rules that checks the registry an auto cad entry and report back. this way regardless of what you have version wise, the system won't care, it will simply look for a reg value and report x number of machines have Auto CAD. If you are unfamiliar with Custom Inventory Rules go to:

Inventory > Software
Choose Action > Add New Item

Call it Auto CAD (All Versions)
under the Custom Inventory Rules area click on the little yellow help box to see examples of what you can do.

capnjtkirk (nice name BTW),

If all your doing is trying to track all installs you could do this with asset management.

From a high level, you would create a software smart label, and use that as a target in software asset.

Your JS trainer will be able to help (if you still haven't gone through training).

Alternatively, as long as each machine only has one version of the software installed on it you could create a machine label for all computers containing the software title that begins with "AutoCad".

Inventoy -> Computers -> Create Smart Label

Where "Software Titles" begins with AutoCAD
