Setting K1000 with public IP address

Hi guys, I've been given a task to setup K1000 to monitor computers outside our company's LAN...

So logic dictates that I need to use public IP address for my K1000 appliance. Can someone explain to me what information do I need to use to set it correctly? How can I find out DNS, Default Gateway and Subnet Mask when using public IP?

Is there some other way to do it?

Sorry if the questions feel stupid, I'm still new to all this. Thanks in advance.

  • Ok, i need to set ports and passwords. But I'll set that after the initial setup, right?

Hi quys, I just wanted to share my results regarding my challenge...

I've managed to setup K1000 so that clients across WAN can connect and inventory their infrastructure. You have to setup network configuration in FreeBSD like you're in your own LAN but key is to allow port forwarding at the router for certain ports which link is few posts above. And thats it...

In addition to the above link be sure to change all the default usernames and passwords - i.e. FTP, Client Share, admin, etc.  Also, only allow the ports you need externally for the client and Dell remote support for tethering.
