Scriptable (driver agnostic) way to clone multiple montiors in Windows 7

Any K2000 users have a post-installation task for Windows 7 that detects multiple monitors and automatically clones the primary display?

I have a Windows 7-based kiosk image. Some of these kiosks have one monitor, others have two. So far cloning the displays is the only thing I can't automate. The solutions i find online all either refer to GUI-only programs or only work with certain graphics card driver add-on programs--neither of which will work very well. Any ideas?
