SAPGUI 7.10 SP 16: some dll/ocx files fail to register

Hi,

We deploy software through GPO, and after going through the Pacakage KB i opted for KJ's method (see notes at http://itninja.com/link/sap-front-end-installation-guide---release-7.10) to deploy SAPGUI 7.10 SP 16. I created a SAP Installation Server and made a single compressed file-installer with this tool. After that I created a new msi, added the newly created exe and a "exec program from installed files" custom action. The msi installs without any visible error, but when checking sapgui fails to start. The sapgui setuplog shows that some dll and ocx files failed to register. I included a part of the setuplog.

When i install the exe manually, sapgui starts without any errors. I haven't got a clue how to solve this. Any help will be appreciated.

Install the runtime as a dependency before running the SAP install. Add the MSI to the GPO containing the SAP package, then add the SAP package. You'll probably need to create a new GPO or remove the existing SAP package first, before adding the runtime MSI, then the SAP package.

What is the condition you have used to execute the CA.
Try calling the EXE from relative Path Instead.

Module msvcr80.dll is unresolvedIt seems the installer can't find the Visual C++ runtime it wants.

Dependency Walker will show you the version of the side-x-side VC++ dll [that VBScab refers to] is missing...
I believe from memory that it's VC++ SP1 that is missing - not 'One of our dinosaurs...'

I run the msi currently without any conditions. I tried calling the EXE from relative Path Instead, but this makes no difference.

After i gave Visual C++ runtime a closer look, i noticed that the single installer package contains vcredist_x86.msi which it tries to install. This installation does returns error 1618.

Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install.

You cannot have two separate instances of Windows Installer setups running at the same time. If you are using a custom action to trigger a second MSI setup, you will need to have your script wait for the wrapper script to close before proceeding.



How can i solve this?
