Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has come across a way to remotely update the serial number of a machine in the bios? We have had engineers replace multiple motherboards on machines without updating the serial #'s hence it is interfering with our asset control.

It is an IBM only environment, the IBM rep did briefly mention an app called AIAWRITE, but we couldn't get anything more on that.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

You can find the AIA utils at http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/desktop/lccm/house2.html

Thanks,

We did end up getting the info from the rep, but you can't actually change the motherboard serial, only the AssetID of the machine which is different.
