Registry Key permssions question

I open Installation Expert and right click on the req key and select permissions. Click Add and then it ask for domain and user. My question is I want to use the local INTERACTIVE group. So i put INTERACTIVE in for user but what do I use when not using the domain. Do I use something like %PCNAME%

Thanks

The Wise UI will write that information to the LockPermissions table, something to be avoided if at all possible (although some will argue the toss). The biggest drawback with using that table is that it replaces permissions rather than adds them.

Instead, use a tool like SetACL, SubInACL or - at a push - SecEdit via a deferred Custom Action.

fyi if your using windows 7 or windows installer 5 lock permissions has been upgraded to support inheritance etc.

in which case take a look at lockpermissionsex table. outside of that I agree with vbscab alternate tools are better to use.
