Real player 10.x
I use Installshield repackager to make .msi files.
I have some problems with real player 10, when im deploying the program to our computers and trying to play anything from the web the Auto update pops up and says that it can't update the program because of our policy that says that users Does not have the right to update or install anyting.
I have disabled the auto update in Real but it seems to want to update anyway, is there anyway to go around this??
OR some other alternative program that can play Real files?

I repackaged RealPlayer 10 Gold and turned off updates OK with the following reg key:
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\Software\RealNetworks\Update\6.0\Preferences\Warn (Default registry sting with a value of 1)
Could be a different reg key for you - can't you just snapshot unchecking the 'Automatically download and install important updates' and check the reg value/s that change..?

Check permissions to ClassesRoot\Software\RealNetworks.. Not haveing modify permissions to a key in there results in a rather misleading unable to download update error message

Now i finally got it to work.
What i did was:
1. snapshot of computer configuration
2. Installed Real Alternative (when i tried with Real Player iexplorer just crached all the time)
3. opened a web stream that used Real Audio 3.0 codec plugin so the player updated it self, little strange that the player don't download that codec when you run auto update!!
4. Took the second snapshot
5. made an GPO that changed permission on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Software (didn't work to change permissions on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Software/RealNetworks)
