QuickTime 7.1.6 and ASU
To prevent install the Apple Software Update I dropped the following row from the caPackage table using ORCA.
AppleSoftwareUpdate AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi &QuickTimeEssentials>2 AND INSTALL_ASUW AND (NOT ASUWISINSTALLED OR OLDERASUWISINSTALLED) InstallAppleSoftwareUpdate 1
I tried several attribute changes to ChkOptInstASU in the CheckBox table and in the Control tables and this only disabled the ability to uncheck the box.

Have you tried setting the property REGSRCH_INSTALL_ASU to zero either in the Property table or on the msiexec command line ?
