Quicktime 7

ok this is what i have done:

Extract Itunes.exe

run quicktime.exe /a for admin install

search for quicktime.msi

Put ISScript11.msi in the same directory

add ISSETUPDRIVEN=1 in the properties table using orca

i install ISScript11.msi
when i run the quicktime.msi by double clicking it, it works fine

however if i do
msiexec -i quicktime.msi /qb i get the error
"Error 1606 could not access network location QTComponents\"

any ideas?

Hi Antun:

You could see the replies on the post already by mkali, however I would say that you should extract the exe and then run the exe in a silent mode by recording an answer file.

Hi WM:

I believe you are trying to customise the msi, why dont you extract the same and then call the extracted setup.exe in a silent mode. give me a buzz in case you require any further help.

Anyone have any problems with the IE browser plug-in not working with their custom installation?

If you just want quicktime you can download an installer without itunes - you could start with that instead.

I did an admin install and got in installing fine via msiexec /i but couldn't get to advertise - I got the same error u have. I removed all the install shield ref's so you don't need to use isscript to install too. Pesky isscript [:@]

Cheers,
Rob.

Hi fetgor

sorry for this stupid question. What is the order of your 3 table, especially Verb table.
Is Verb table following this order: Extension_, Verb, Sequence, Command and Argument.

I add your table to my msi file, but it's complaining about error 2709 "errOSACantGetTerminology".

Thanks
enz

I just took a Ordinary SetupCapture of Quicktimeinstaller.exe. After the install I started quicktime and made a the changes In preferences I wanted then ended the setupCapture.

Then I had a nice msi-package that worked without any problem.. Have tested it with both AD and SMS deployment.

Yes, that can be a good idea, but I prefere to modify a vendor msi by adding a mst instead of making a snapshot.

I started looking in to packaging QuickTime 7.62, the latest installer. The problem that I'm having is disabling AutoUpdates. Does anyone have any ideas?

Please use the 'Package KB' and 'Search' links at the top of the page. QT has been done to death, especially auto-update control.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
