Project 2007 with Outlook 2003

Hi Friends,

Can Project 2007 sit together with Outlook 2003 on same machine.

I have found conflicts, whenever outlook sync, windows installer window pops up..

any suggestions? Use the Event Viewer to track down which component is being repaired and go from there.

what i have found is that outlook overwrites project files, and when project is launched again, it self heals....

I'm not 100% sure on this, but did you change the default installation path on your project 2007 installation? I believe by default all office apps install on c:\program files\office or something like that, you may want to try it by installing on c:\program files\office2007...it seems pretty basic, but it may solve your problem.

G'luck.

it actually overwrites some of the common files folder files and system files...:(

Office now installs to %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office[OfficeVersionNumber] so I don't think that's the problem.

Anyway, how can Outlook overwrite Project files if you're installing Project last? You surely meant the opposite?

check the REINSTALLMODE property on OL installation.

it should and is most likely set to OMUS or VOMUS.

if it is set to something other than this you "may" be in a situation where OL is allowed to downgrade files which is not a good thing.

are the files concerned versioned or non versioned ? are there entries in the msifilehash table for the respective files?
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
