Problems migrating user state from 32bit xp to 64 bit win7

I've migrated succesfully from xp32 ton win7 32. I have usmt 3.01 and 4.0 uploaded to the k2000. I usually just capture the user state then login as admin on the target PC , login to k200 admin page, download the usmt.mig file and run it.

However when I try to run the usmt.mig file on my 64 bit PCs I get "This version of windows easy transfer is designed for a 32-bit version of windows"

I have both the 32bit and 64 bit versions of usmt 3.01 uploaded, am i missing something? Everything I've read says that migrating from 32 to 64 bit is supported.

  • Have you tried "Windows Easy transfer" ? - getopt 9 years ago
  • Yep, it works fine that way but it means I have to login to the source pc to grab the user state. Rather than just collect it in the background via the kbox. Not a deal breaker but a pain in the backside. - babaton 9 years ago
