Problem using REGINI

Has anyone used this tool from the W2K Resource kit before? I created "CHANGEROOT.INI" and it contains the following:

\Registry
Machine
SYSTEM
=
ControlSet001
Enum
Root [1 7 17]

And then I run REGINI CHANGEROOT.INI and get the following output:

00 0000 KeyName: \Registry01 0004 KeyName: Machine02 0008 KeyName:SYSTEMUpdated value for Key: \Registry\Machine\SYSTEM\ = '
03 0012 KeyName:ControlSet00104 0016 KeyName: Num

... the security of the Key ROOT doesn't change. I'm trying to set it to WORLD has full, EVERYONE has full and SYSTEM has Full control.

Thanks!

Happens every time, I find a workable solution after posting. I really do look around before I post :) Anyway, for anyone interested, I found SUBINACL.EXE from the W2K resource kit works much better for what I need =)

If it is registry permissions you are looking to set, they can be set via Machine based group policies, as long as the key you need modified is in HKey Local Machine.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
