problem silent install adobe reader 8

I've a an application that should open adobe reader 8 when clicking on a pdf link. This works fine when I've installed adobe reader 8 with the setup.exe in normal mode (not silent). We're using Zenworks for application deployment and therefor I want to use the AcroRead.msi, and here begins the problem for me.
When I use the msi ( or the setup.exe in silent mode ) the install looks to work fine and I get no errors. But when I use the application software and click on a pdf link to open adobe reader 8 I get the error: problem with executing shell32.shellexecuteA, error number 2. The supplier of the software can't find the problem and says all works fine. I don't have this problem with Adobe Reader 7. Does anyone have a suggestion on this?

What happens if you just install the msi normally? Do you have the same problem or is it only when you deploy through Zenworks?

What type of Zenworks application object are you using to deploy this software? Simple AO, or MSI AO? Since this is a vendor provided MSI it would probably be best to create an MSI application object.

try installing the MSI with a /qb- from the command line and see if you have the same issue.

if you do have the same issue try a /qr if that works change the installtype on the zenworks object to allow a /qr install

Thnx for your reply,

When I install the msi normally all works wel. With Zenworks I use the MSI AO. The problem occurs when I want to install it silently.

Thank you very much!!! The parameter /qr worked for me.... I have to use this parameter with msiexec and all works well.
