Patch deployment through Unicenter

Hi All,

Just a simple question, I hope! I have created a patch for an application which replaces a few files and also adds some new ones. The patch is in .MSP format. The deployment team use Unicenter to deploy and tell me that they cannot deploy a .MSP file using Unicenter. I find this hard to believe, Unicenter can deploy .MSI and .MST and cannot deploy .MSP. Can anyone confirm or deny for me that Unicenter can deploy .MSP files?

Cheers,
Rob

I'm not a Unicenter Admin, but by definition the current version Windows Installer can't patch installed applications on the fly. The proper way to upgrade an installed MSI w/ an MSP, is to use the MSP to patch the Admin install, then redeploy the application from the updated source.

Bladerun is correct. The correct method to deploy the .msp is to update the admin installation point.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
