With all the problems faced by people packaging this app using installsheild, this may sound easy but I cannot get rid of the quick install shortcut on the desktop. I dont see it on the shortcuts section. i didnt see any thing in particular in the registry either.

Look for a Registry key called Namespace ... You'll find a key under there in the form of a GUID ... delete that

You can try :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
