Once a ticket for a software request is approved, software automatically installs on requests computer

My Kace salesman assured me we could do this.

I want a user to either click on a software title in the Service Desk User Downloads section or log a ticket, doesn't matter, if its licensed software, send a ticket or some sort of notification to the Purchasing Manager. If approved, the software will then be begin installation on the requestors computer without any more intervention.

I've searched high and low and still have no idea how to do this. Any ideas?

  • I don't recall this to be a built in function...

Helpdesk and User Downloads are two separate modules...

There is a built in functionality to Notify the user's manager if X software is going to be installed

You might want to ask KACE professional services team if they can configure what you want by modifying the appliance's Database itself... but I guess it will not be for free - Channeler 6 years ago

Channeler is correct, it is perfectly possible to set a ticket up that requires an approver and once that approval is granted, as long as the target machine is included in the ticket data somewhere, run a ticket rule that places the machine ID in a label that is a target for the installation or similar, but you would be looking as at least a couple of days services if you required this to be configured.
