Good afternoon,

I am taking over the role of K1 and K2 admin in my office. My biggest concern right now is making sure I can create and successfully build, capture, and deploy new images. As of now, I'm merely working with making sure I understand sysprep and the unattend file correctly.

To make things easy and as recommended by the outgoing admin, I downloaded and installed the Dell Sysprep Creator with the four tabs. The problem I'm running into now is during creation of my local admin account. On a previous attempt, my local admin account would not take the password I set in the unattend file. I started from scratch and this time, before I sysprepped, I created a 2nd local admin account so I could get into the machine, in case my standard account was fubar.

Well, I've built a new system, created my unattend with the application, captured it, pushed out the image again, and on reboot, there's my local admin account but again it is not taking my password, as set in the unattend. I thought perhaps I had written it wrong the first time around, but certainly not twice.

Am I missing something? Does the Sysprep Creator not accept certain characters in the local admin password field or something? Or is this a known issue or has someone run into this?

I would recommend installing the Windows Installation kits for the operating system you are installing and verifying the unattend file using the system image tool. This will let you know if there is a problem with the file. You can also look at your unattend file in Notepad and see if the password you entered is the same that is listed in the file.
