Need to create an HP Laserjet III msi package

Can anybody help me with the whole process of packaging the HP LaserJet III printer driver for XP?

The printer needs to be installed as LPT1 before we install RightFax 8.0. RightFax is requiring the printer to be installed first before it can install it's own fax printer driver.

Alternatively, I can include the printer in the RightFax8.msi file but I would need some help with that.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

NOTE: When you install the HP LaserJet III printer driver with XP, it shows that it is digitally signed but I don't see the .cat, .inf or .sys files to package the signed driver. I am confused. Please help!!

This should be possible through RunDLL32.exe.

Rundll32 works. Thank you very much.

Can you tell me how to add it to RightFax.msi and making sure that the printer installs 1st?

Thank you

Find out how the RightFax.msi installs its printer driver (guessing a custom action) and execute a Custom Action Type 34 to install the HP driver through [SystemFolder]RunDLL32.exe just before the fax printer driver.

I just talked with the SMS Engineer and he said I could just create a VBS from the rundll32 and chain it with RightFax in SMS so it will report correctly within SMS.

Thank you.

probably better to make the CA deferred should you choose the CA route. Add 1024 to the type.
