If you right click on your .MSI often times you see the UNBLOCK button. I can check this and then run my .MSI and it will not prompt. But, if I add my .MSI into a script and try to deploy this script onto many machines it prompts each time it is run. How do you permanently disable this prompt?

There usually switches you can put on the end. Here is a page that has a lot of the parameters you can use.

  • Thanks but that page does not address the issue. It is not an .MSI issue. It's an OS issue. It says: "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protext this computer" and then you can unblock it. I just don't know how to automate unblocking it.

If you are copying the file locally to the machines before executing, you might get this prompt after the copy, since the ZoneID might get put back.

You could try using the following (vbs) code in your script

Set oEnv = oShell.Environment("PROCESS")

  • ok there was supposed to be a line between the oEnv and oEnv.Remove above, indicating this is where you would call the install command for the msi...looks like it got filtered out of the message...
