MSP and cached MSI version

Hi,

I had to create my first .MSP file and it's going very fine.

My question is, I am applying the patch file using this command line:

msiexec /p path\file.msp REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus /qb

I am expecting this command line to update the cache MSI copy of the application AND apply the changes to the installation.

The application is updated fine but I am not sure if the cached MSI is updated. Should I expect the MSI located in c:\Windows\Installer to be updated to the new version?

If it is supposed to, then it's not working, the cache version is not updated but i see an MSP file created in the folder.

Is this the expected behavior?

Thks,

Bob

A patch doesn't update the cached MSI.
When you install an MSP it will actually perform a reinstall with the MSP's (embedded) transform(s).
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
