.MSi & .Appv Deployment

How to manage a .msi & .appv pakcages in SCCM 2012 for the same application? Based on the requierment i want to deploy an .msi or .appv?

  • For the same application i have a .msi & .appv in SCCM 2012 but based on the requirement i may need to install a .msi or .appv. how to manage this? Hope this clarifies - n.gopinaathan 10 years ago

You need to create 2 deployment types in the application and create a requirement in each of them.

  • Thanks Piyushnasa. Will the priority under Deployment types work ie., if Appv client is not present then MSI should get installed even thought MSI is given priority 2? - n.gopinaathan 10 years ago
  • You can put all this in requirement. Like you can check for the existence of App-V client through a script and if it is there use App-v, else reverse of it you can put as a requirement for MSI.
    You can also check for a registry key in the requirement. You can create your own global custom requirements and then use them in any application - piyushnasa 10 years ago
