Move Kace Agents to New Domain

Hi,

We currently have a K1000 unit where all the agents are pointing to hostname kbox.companyA.com we want to reconfigure kace to point to kbox.CompanyB.com and point all the agents to this new domain. How can this be accomplished?

Thank you.

You were on that thread from a year ago but the process hasn't changed. Run the amptools.com host=kbox.companyb.com using the KBOX scripting.

Once all the machines are no longer checking into the server, rename the server to the new address, kbox.companyB.com...etc - nshah 7 years ago
    • Thanks for the reply. Do we change the hostname in KBOX first prior to running the script or run the script to point to the new hostname then change KBOX? - anonymous_104535 7 years ago
      • Script has to run on all machines first before you change the name of the KBOX under Network Settings. If you change the KBOX name first the agents will stop checking in since they can' t resolve the new hostname. - nshah 7 years ago
  • How will i determine if the agents are checking in via the new hostname? - anonymous_104535 7 years ago
    • Check the amp.conf file to see if they are point to the new host name on a few sample machines. Once the conversion is done, they should all start showing up active in Inventory. - nshah 7 years ago
  • Thank you. That worked! We've migrated the agents successfully to the new domain. - anonymous_104535 7 years ago

you can create a CIR to read the amp config to know what each machine is set at

ShellCommandTextReturn(cmd.exe /c type C:\programdata\dell\kace\amp.conf)
