Kofax Virtualrescan 4.20

hi,

did anyone package kofax virtualrescan 4.20. I am facing issues in suppressing the reboot.

Seems some custom action is trying to force reboot after installation. I have tried to remove various custom action but no success yet.

Hi VBscap,

I checked in one of the thread and found you had packaged it sometime back...can you please help me in this issue.

Thanks,
DJ

Deepak,

what are you using as far as installation media? an MSI or a setup?
(believe it or not, I'm actually working on a Kofax suite this very moment [:D])
I'm just running a silent installation of the VRS msi, and it's not giving me any grief.. I do have to reboot during the whole installation process but the VRS is not forcing me.

first things first I guess, have you logged the installation and analysed the resulting log?

Like I edited in my previous post, what does a verbose log tell you?

I am using version 4.20...

same. Are you modifying any properties that might be impacting the CheckRunOnceForReboot CA (which is the only one that sounds promising to me)
actually, have a look in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce for something Kofax-related? The main Kofax installer does put alot of junk in RunOnce after its finished, since it wants to continue after a reboot. Maybe you're missing these and the installer decides to manage the reboot on its own...

More specifically, since I wanna control the kofax post-reboot process myself, I've had to delete the following regkeys:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\REBOOT
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\AscentCaptureSetup
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\CaptureAppInitPrompt

Hi PJ,

Yes, I know about runonce entries....

for me there were below two:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\activate :

Above causes Update popup for VRS after reboot ....so I deleted above entry...and it helped and I no more get that popup after reboot...

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\REBOOT

I have entry for REBOOT as well...I am just wondering what this blank string will make impact....but even I deleted this one as well...but no luck...

even i deleted all the custom actions with the word reboot...but didn't help[8D]

Hi PJ,

Are you using /QB command or /QN command for silent VRS...

I had tried only /QB...i will check probably /qn will resolve the problem....

I got the problem...after looking at verbose log file...

REBOOT property was getting reset to Force...that caused all the problem...
