K1000 "Check for Upgrade" option sends me to Logs tab - doesn't check for update.

I know the new 5.4 upgrade is out and since our K1000 is still at version 5.2.38773 I thought I would check for updates to see if they were ready for our machine.  When I click the Check for Upgrade button, it immediatly kicks me to the Logs tab and shows the System Logs.  I've never had this happen before.

The upgrade is released incermentally. IF it hasnt been pushed to your mahcine yet then the optionis manual as stated above.

As Jknox stated though start here first.

There are steps that need to be followed for a smooth upgrade, I suggest followingeven the recommended steps and deleting patches before the upgrade.

  • I'd recommend this as well if the automatic upgrade isn't working. The links are in this instruction document: http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/Steps-to-download-and-upgrade-Dell-Kace-K1000-Appliance-Software-to-version-5-4 - jknox 11 years ago

In my experience if your k1000 wasn't advertised to you need to manually apply the update. There is the knowledge base artilce on the Home page item #3 that will step you through the upgrade process. Make sure to run a back up first and download the backup's off of the appliance for safe keeping to provide a way to restore should you need it.

Also the KBOX checks every night for updates. When a new version comes out they don't release it for everyone at once but in stages. Last I hard based off of your KBOX serial number. So you could be first in line or last, but the KBOX checks every night. You are in after a release so usually manually works best.
