Java 8u25 will not install normaly sccm

I see there are no more cab files so I assume I just use the .msi?  I have tried to get just the msi to run with no .mst file.  Runs from the cmd line but not SCCM.  I get a 1619 error package could not be opened.  The files are getting to the Cache folder.

I by passed the .mst file to eliminate that as a variable as I felt like it took a lot longer to “generate” the transform that usual.  Using Orca to create a transfom.

  • I managed to get the package to run with the .mst file but I noticed Java is still in the program list. I have an entry in my mst file in install Exectute Sequence I have RunCMD 3183
    with this action in CustomAction
    cmd.exe /C rmdir "%PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Java" /S /Q
Any hints whyit wont run and my execmgr.log looks good with no errors return code 0 - J.M. 9 years ago

If you have the MSI open in ORCA in the cache folder, you will not be able to install. If this is not the case, can you run the MSI manually from the cache location?

  • Stupid error - scrutinized the execmgr.log and found a typo in my cmd line for the package… two I’s side by side looked like one at first glance and the reason it ran from the cmd line proper was I did a copy paste from a text file that was correct. DUH!
But I am struggling with my .mst file I just sense something different relative to how they usually create in prior version, and it will not run with the .mst file. As to your question it’s not open anywhere once I run from sccm. I’ll remember that though! I saw a reference from somebody indicating that .mst files were no longer needed?
I’m not seeing much in the way of posts for 8uxx which implies that there are no issues or newbies like me are just getting into it today. - J.M. 9 years ago
