I need to deploy iTunes via SCCM with preconfigured user settings and disable self healing. The problem I'm having is with the last part, no matter what I try I cannot find a way to prevent the self heal from occurring on the first launch for each new user. I've disabled all advertised shortcuts, checked for active setup entries, imported all files and registry keys changed as part of the repair, but still every time it runs when you launch iTunes (even straight from the executable). Could anyone give me any pointers in tracking down the entry point for the repair? This didn't use to happen with the previous version we configured like this (11.0), what's changed?   • Doesn't the vendor MSI do a self repair anyway?? have you tried an install and then logging in as a different user??
    • Yeah, that's the problem. I need to disable the self repair. Logging in as a different user and launching iTunes triggers a self repair, despite having no advertised shortcuts or active setup entries.
  • Look up the various types of advertised entry-points. They're not restricted to shortcuts!

    Why do you want to disable self-healing? And what place does iTunes have in a corporate environment!?!?!?
    • Yeah, I was hoping someone had some direct experience with the more recent versions of iTunes specifically.
      Thanks for the comments everyone, I think I'm going to have to admit defeat on this one and let he repair run.
  • in general the self repair is a good thing. If you it keeps repairing EVERY time you run that app, that is a bit of an issue. But from a vendor MSI, if the selfrepair is there, run with it. Normally, you have the issue of how to get user setting into a vendor MSI.
