Have you downloaded all the Merge Modules to the Wise SharePoint? If not, in Windows Installer Editor select ‘Help -> Download Redistributables’ & download them from the Wise Website (if it's the same in 5.6, otherwise check the docs on how to download merge mods).

Leave the Merge Modules ticked in the capture to include the Merge Module in the MSI.. See if the application now works.

Hi andy,

Yes, I see the download redistributables from the help menu and when I download its lists some of the modules name,Onemore thing the same downlaod prompt I got when I do setup capture for my application before.

So I downloaded and added the mentioned modules and added the my application and that does not work.

I have one quick doubt If I download and keep the merge modules in wise share point,While I do setup capture,do that application will obtain required merge modules from wise share point?

Please can you help me to solve this

Thanks.

With respect to why you are being prompted for merge modules: InstallShield (and I assume WISE) detects files used in installation and suggests inserting the appropriate merge module. these modules contain other requirements for these files - corresponding DLL files, etc. Merge modules aren't always necessary, but are a good idea. As a default with a capture, I include the merge modules recommended to be sure I've got all the correct files, etc. You may have some extra unneeded files in your install, but you also won't run into run failures, either.

Hi ,

I am still running in trouble.

When I use Wise package studio 7.0SP3 for capturing the CVI Net Collector application,I am able to end capture successfully and there is no prompt for merge module at the end of caprturing and captured MSI also works fine after installation.

But Here is my question is

When I use the Wise package studio 5.6.0.466 for capturing CVI Net Collector application.I am getting prompt for adding the merge module and If i add or ignore adding modules.I am end up with capture..But my captured msi is not working after installation.

Please someone came across this issue or If u know how to solve this issue please post me and help me to get this is done.

Waiting to hear from you all.

Thanks in advance

It could be that Wise package studio 5.6.0.466 is adding the wrong version of the merge modules & therefore the wrong version of the files. When presented with the list of merge modules during the capture, untick all the boxes, so that the merge modules are not used. Complete the compilation & see if the MSI installed application works correctly.

For the files that Wise flags up as possible merge mods (and maybe any other DLLs), check on the File Details to see if the DLLs are being registered. Maybe try registering them with RegSvr32 on a machine with the failed install, or compare the SelfReg table from Wise 5.6 with that from the successful Wise 7 capture.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
