Hello,

I am trying to create an .iss answer file for a silent install of iPass 3.51. Unfortunately I seem to have trouble surpressing the license agreement screen.

If anyone has successfully packaged this application could you please post your .iss file?

Talk to iPass Support - That is something they must do.

- At least that is what they told me after a week of trying to figure out what I was doing wrong :)

bassettjj,

gmorgan618 is right... your company should be able to sign a EULA on behalf of its employees, so the EULA can be removed from the installation files.

IPass must have to do this for a large number of companies, so it shouldn't be a problem for them to sort this out for you.

Thanks,

Wow!

So if I call will they ask anything from me about my site license or anything? I'm just wondering if I can call or if I have to have someone else from our staff who might have purchased the product.

Thanks for your help!

bassettjj,

When I ran across the issue, I was packaging IPass for a client, who I told to go back to IPass and provide me with a setup executable that didn't include the EULA.

I supsect it may be down to your technical procurement dept to go back to IPass and sign the EULA to provide you with a workable .exe.

You could always ask the question yourself - at least if you can't do it then you have details of what you need to do 'from the horses mouth'.

Thanks,

Hello all,

The unattended install switches for the iPassConnect EXE InstallShield package (as obtained from iPass) are as follows:

iPassConnect-Setup.exe -s -a -s

You can name the EXE anything you want *except* Setup.exe (it cannot have that name as there is a file packaged within it with the same name... limitation of InstallShield, not us).

Now for the EULA, that indeed requires iPass to suppress it in the profile build. To do this, we need a master EULA agreement signed and your iPass Account Manager can provide you with the details on this. Contact your iPass Account Manager for the necessary paperwork. Simply calling iPass Technical Support will not suffice as they are not authorized to suppress the EULA in any profile until cleared by our Order Support and Legal groups once they receive the signed master EULA agreement from the customer.

Ok, so I'm back working on this package again. The client supplied me with new installation files that have the EULA removed, which did work to remove the license agreement at the start of the installation.

My only problem now is that the install is still not silent. Even though I tried both "-s -a -s" and "/s" the install happens in a passive state showing a progress bar. My client requests this to be completely silent without any display.

Has anyone encountered this?

Unfortunately, the iPassConnect EXE installer does not have a fully silent install. It's fully unattended, but not 100% silent. You still see the database load progress as well as the supplicant install dialog.

For a fully silent install, you need an MSI.

Hi!
I trying to create an MSI or do a silent install of iPass 3.55.
Silent install of 3.55 works great with the answerfile - no problem! But the uninstall doesnt work for several reasons. First of all, after install och reboot iPass starts a service wich must be killed before any unistall can run (unattended or not). Second the uninstall with answerfile is not unattended, a popup asking if i want to uninstall shows ans pauses the uninstallment. Thirdly the uninstall doesnt remove everything with answerfile - both files and registry is left - and a new einstall cannot perform since installation thinks iPass still is installed. Any hints? Is 3.55 different?

From what you say about the app, if you want a complete uninstall, you need to create the MSI. You could maybe then try and sell it on a commission basis to the vendor. I'm in negotiations with one...no names, no pack drill.
