InstallShield - Remove old versions

Hello, I am still new at this. I have a request from people who are complaining that my prject install insilent mode does not remove old versions of the software. I "think" I can create a response file that would go ahead and remove old versions of software. Any other suggestions?

What application and version are you deploying?
Is Installshield the tool you're packaging with or are you talking about the Installscript engines?

If your old app's name appears in "Add/Remove Programs", there will be an uninstall string in the registry. Look in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\[ProductCode] or, in some cases, HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\[ProductName]. Of course, if the app uses the ProductCode entry and you don't know that ProductCode, you'll need to browse them all until you see the product name in the 'DisplayName' value.

Yes, there's far too little information here. Are you trying to code an MSI to do a major upgrade (remove previous versions) when installed?

If so, you need to read up on upgrade codes.

There's also plenty of info in the Installshield help on this.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
