Insert disk error

Hi Guys.

Need a help in one issue.

I have a pcakge for Lotus notes 8.5. When I run the package from hard disk or some network locations..it installs fine...but when I try to run this from USB stick I get a message as "Insert disk"...

Please can someone suggest what could be the issue...

There is an important requirement to run it from USB stick..

Thanks in advance...

I recommend you specify ROOTDRIVE=C:\ on the command line (or, for simplification, in a shortcut) when installing from the USB drive to ensure it is targeting your C drive and not trying to install to some other drive it believes to have more space (which is the default behavior). Failing that you might check your file and drive tables to make sure it is not referring to any specific drives (all paths should start with a public property).

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your reply.

ROOTDRIVE=C:\ is already applied to msi via a transform. Also note that msi installs fine from USB but when msi is run with mst then problems occurs.

mst is nothing but applied to msi to add few properties.

So what exactly does the mst change?

anything in the media table, adds files maybe?

The MST is probably attempting to access uncompressed external files from....somewhere. Make sure you have ALL the files that the MST references on the USB drive.

As ever, ProcMon would have shown you in a blink which file the package is trying to access.

Have a look in the Media table, see if any of the lines contains a Diskprompt entry, and if by any chance the matching cab file is not present next to your MSI

Hi timmsie

so the file you've added isn't on the usb stick!

either uncompressed or in a CAB depending on how you've authored it.
